Popular music streaming platforms hold millions of tracks, and according to recent data, 20 per cent of the songs on Spotify, for example, have never been played even once.
Now, there is a free music streaming service that finds and plays songs these forgotten songs.
The team that launched Forgotify believe it is a travesty that this obscure music – amounting to about four million tracks across a wide range of genres – has been overlooked.
Users have to be logged in to Spotify for Forgotify to work because it uses an embedded Spotify player to find tracks with zero plays.
Listeners are presented with a track that they can listen to and share. If it is not to their taste there is a "next" button that will offer them another previously unplayed track.
