Mental Health

We were deeply saddened to hear about the tragedy that unfolded last Friday at the South Hedland Square Shopping Centre. Our thoughts go out to all involved, wishing a safe recovery to those who are injured and thank the officers and individuals who protected the community during the attack.

In times like these, it is more important than ever to look after our mental health. The Federal government has recently released ‘The Help is Here’ campaign, part of the $150 million Domestic Violence Support Package to help support services meet demand during these unprecedented circumstances.

You can contact 1800Respect or MensLine Australia for support and counselling services, Australia wide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Everyone has the right to be free from harm and to live without fear of violence or abuse. By respecting and looking out for ourselves and one another, we can work together to keep our community safe.

The Hedland Well Women's Centre also has a range of safe, accessible and confidential support services that are all free to the community. If you need to get in touch for a chat, give them a call on 9140 1124.

You can find the links to these support services, and other local supports in your area by visiting our Support and Resources page here.
