The Town of Port Hedland is inviting community members, creatives and all local stakeholders to have their say in the Heartland Public Art Strategy with their community survey.
Share your thoughts to help guide the creation of future public art works and inform the development of the Town’s Public Arts and Culture Strategy 2019-2022!
According to the Town, “the final Strategy will guide Council and the community on how public art should be commissioned, procured and planned for the future to align with community sentiment. The survey will uncover sentiments such as the degree to which Aboriginal art should be procured, the value placed on public art by residents and potentially new areas of investment and discovery.”
Hon. Commissioner Fred Riebeling AM JP said “Public art is accessible to all and communicates a place’s identity. Further, commissioning local creatives to produce public art will support local job creation, contributing to our region’s economic development in the coming years.
“The survey will be complimented by online polls and focus group sessions with key local stakeholders, so we can garner a broad cross sections of views in the development of the Strategy.
“I look forward to perusing the insights which are uncovered in the consultation process.”
